We are a forestry business comprising three interconnected entities, all sitting under a holding company, Land & Forest Ltd:
- English Woodland Forestry Ltd: is an independent forestry consultant established more than 30 years ago. Operating in the South of England, we work with large private estates, woodland owners, farmers, land agents and charities.
- Powell Forestry Ltd: is a leading specialist timber harvesting and marketing company with over 40 years’ experience.
- Hillgrove Timber Ltd: Is the newest part of our business and manages the drying, sale and distribution of hardwood timber. This company is dedicated to providing high-quality timber while promoting sustainable sourcing.
This role plays a crucial role in supporting all three entities in respect to financial management, administration and operations tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial and Accounting:
- Assist with bookkeeping tasks supporting in house Bookkeeper, in particular weekly round timber ticket processing for Powell Forestry.
- Process purchase orders, invoices, and other financial documentation, ensuring accuracy and presentation to clients.
- Work with the Directors to identify and secure savings in all overhead expenses
- Internal Record Management:
- Maintain and update client, vendor, and contractor databases for all businesses.
- Organize and manage electronic files, ensuring that all documentation is easily accessible and properly archived.
- Health & Safety Compliance:
- Assist in maintaining records of safety training, certifications, and compliance documents for field teams.
- Communication and Marketing
- Assist with creating and distributing marketing materials, newsletters, and updates for the company’s various services. Either through the website or other means
- General Administrative Support:
- Respond to email and handle customer/supplier enquiries in a timely manner.
- Manage office supplies, including inventory control and ordering.
- Prepare and process documentation, including reports, memos, and correspondence for various teams as requested.
- Assist with marketing and staff events.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in office management, bookkeeping or business admin.
- Familiarity with bookkeeping. general accounting principles and ideally Xero bookkeeping software.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Working knowledge of Wordpress would be a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Teams.
- Interest in or knowledge of the forestry & timber industry is desirable.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £32,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
