Senior AI Engineer

As an Senior AI Engineer, you are invited to be a pivotal member of our esteemed AI & Automation Centre of Excellence at EDF.
The Opportunity …
The role sits in the AI team of the AI & Automation Centre of Excellence within the Enterprise IT function, which focuses on enhancing operational efficiencies and developing new customer propositions through AI. The AI & Automation Centre of Excellence is a team of experts pivotal to delivering innovative AI & Automation solutions and supporting operations across the organisation.
The team integrates with various departments to ensure AI solutions align with business objectives and operational needs.
You’ll report to the AI Manager within AI & Automation CoE, and you’ll manage a small team of direct reports consisting of AI Engineers.

What you 'll be doing
- You’ll be responsible for leading the productionisation and integration of AI models, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability across multiple projects.
- You’ll identify solutions for complex AI challenges and optimise infrastructure for performance and reliability.
- Some challenges of the role include ensuring ethical AI Engineering practices and aligning AI initiatives with strategic goals.
- It’ll be your responsibility to oversee AI model lifecycle management from deployment to retirement.
- You’ll collaborate with key internal stakeholders, including IT, Operations, and Strategy teams, and influence senior management and external partners.
- You’ll oversee the technical engineering leadership of AI projects and ensure adherence to industry standards, regulation and ethical considerations.
- You’ll oversee and manage a technical engineering team with a focus on fostering collaboration, supporting professional growth, and enhancing team capabilities.
- Lead the management & maintenance of complex workflows with CI/CD, ensuring robust orchestration and continuous monitoring of AI systems’ health and performance.
- Lead the deployment, management, and optimisation of ML models. Integrate AI with advanced DevOps practices and design scalable MLOps frameworks and container technologies.
- Provide guidance on dimensional modelling and lead the approach for data ingestion pipelines.
- Proficiency in using MLFlow for managing the AI /ML lifecycle, including experimentation, reproducibility, and deployment. Ability to integrate MLFlow with other tools and platforms.
Who you are
- Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in Data Engineering, AI, and data science techniques, with advanced programming skills in Python.
- Machine Learning & AI: Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, AI model development, and experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow.
- Cloud & Platforms: Hands-on experience with platforms including GitHub, AWS, Azure, and Snowflake.
- Model Deployment: Knowledge of ML architecture tools and techniques for deploying models with accuracy and consistency.
- MLOps & DevOps: Experience in MLOps and DevOps, ensuring smooth integration and operationalization of AI models.
- Clean, Well-Structured Code: Set standards and principles around code quality within the team and build exemplar code for others to follow.
- Innovative Leadership: Demonstrate a relentless passion for technology and innovation, with a creative outlook to explore new possibilities and solutions.
- Strategic & Collaborative Approach: Exhibit outstanding management and teamwork skills, fostering cross-functional collaboration and effectively engaging with all stakeholders.
- Advanced Communication Skills: Communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring transparency and understanding across teams.
