Head of Ecommerce Marketing and Operations

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to drive our ecommerce growth and performance. This role is pivotal in leveraging data insights to boost organic acquisition, optimize configured system sales, and fuel European market expansion. You will take full managerial and P&L responsibility for a team of five specialists (plus oversight of a customer support team of three), ensuring we consistently exceed our sales, performance, and customer satisfaction targets.

Key Responsibilities

Departmental Leadership and P &L Management:

  • Take full responsibility for ecommerce budgeting, forecasting, and financial targets.
  • Implement processes to enhance team efficiency, accountability, and motivation.
  • Analyse performance data to make informed, continuous improvements across the department.

Strategic Marketing, Data Analysis, and SEO:

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies with a focus on organic acquisition.
  • Lead European expansion initiatives, including localised content for regional audiences.
  • Oversee SEO efforts–technical SEO, on-page, and content strategies–to boost rankings.
  • Oversee all SEO efforts (technical, on-page, and content) to improve organic rankings and visibility.
  • Adjust paid channels (e.g., Google Shopping) based on data insights to complement organic growth.

Product Performance Optimisation and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Develop a deep understanding of our complex, configure-to-order product catalogue to guide optimization initiatives.
  • Work closely with the product team to optimize listings, configurations, and attribute setups–ensuring maximum visibility and sales impact.
  • Collaborate with the technical ecommerce infrastructure team to maintain seamless website functionality and robust data integration.
  • Coordinate with the Design and Content Lead to enhance product page content and conversion rates.
  • Engage with other departments to ensure cohesive, customer-focused strategies across the business.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years in eCommerce
  • Proven track record in managing high-performance eCommerce and customer support teams.
  • Strong digital marketing expertise with a focus on organic growth and data-driven decision making.
  • Proficiency with Magento 2 is highly desirable.

Skills

  • Proficiency with SEO and analytics tools (e.g., SEMrush, Moz, Ahrefs, and Google Tools).
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and drive actionable insights.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • A strategic, results-driven mindset with a passion for optimizing product performance.
  • Familiarity with IT hardware or the capacity to rapidly develop deep product knowledge.

Location: Ribchester, Preston

Salary: £60,000-£70,000 (plus significant performance bonus)

Office Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00

Hybrid Working: 2 days at home, 3 days on-site

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £60,000.00-£75,000.00 per year
