Job Title: Fire Door Surveyor.
Location: Bedford Office (with regular travel to London and other regions in the UK)
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: from £25,000 (depending on experience) + Training & Benefits
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fire Door Surveyor to join our team in Bedford. The successful candidate will be based at our Bedford office but will be required to travel regularly to London, as well as to other regions in the UK when necessary.
As a Fire Door Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting inspections and writing reports of fire doors in a variety of residential buildings to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations. Your work will directly contribute to building safety and help safeguard lives by identifying risks and recommending corrective actions. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you gain the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in this essential role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of fire doors in various types of buildings to assess functionality, condition, and compliance with safety standards.
- Identify and document any defects, wear, or compliance issues related to fire doors and hardware.
- Prepare accurate reports detailing the condition of fire doors, including recommendations for repairs or replacements.
- Liaise with clients and communicate findings in a clear, professional manner.
- Stay up-to-date with current fire safety regulations and standards.
Training and Development:
- Full training will be provided to support the candidate in achieving the competence required to carry out accurate fire door inspections.
- Opportunity to work closely with experienced consultants, gaining hands-on experience in fire safety consultancy.

Essential Requirements:
- Ability to write professional documents and reports is essential.
- Willingness to travel regularly to London and occasionally to other regions in the UK.
- Flexibility in working hours is essential, as site visits and client needs may vary.
- Strong interest in fire safety.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet required deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a proactive attitude towards learning.
- Self-driven, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving license.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Prior experience or educational background in carpentry, fire safety, or a related field is a plus but not essential.
