As a member of the Sky News Archive team, you’ll help drive the quality of Sky News’ output by delivering a first-class picture research service, which is vital to the channel’s success. This position will be based in the Media Ingest Centre, continuing our highly ambitious project digitising the entire archive of Sky News legacy tapes, which date back to 1989. Due to the nature of the role, this position is based entirely on site at our Osterley headquarters. The role will involve shift work with 12-hour days only, on a seven-day fortnight basis.
What you’ll do
- Working in the Media Ingest Centre, overseeing the end-to-end digitisation of legacy News tapes as part of our ongoing Digitisation Project.
- QC’ing content, providing quick turnaround ad-hoc ingest for News, Sport and Entertainment content.
- Liaising with Media Researchers across different teams to often tight deadlines.
- Providing daily reports and identifying failures and technical issues, working closely with News Archive Media Researchers and Managers .
- Troubleshooting and isolating technical issues and raising to the relevant teams.
What you’ll bring
- An interest in News, attention to detail and technical know-how are essential .
- Self-motivated and able to work to deadlines.
- Prior experience of a broadcast environment is desirable.
- The ideal candidate will have an enquiring mind, hands on troubleshooting abilities and be a great communicator.
- Results-driven with a strong work ethic , working to targets, with excellent analytical qualities are a must .

Inclusion & how you’ll work
Your office space:
Osterley: Our Osterley Campus is a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from Osterley, Gunnersbury, Ealing Broadway and South Ealing tube stations. There’s also plenty of bike shelters and showers. On campus, you’ll find 13 subsidised restaurants, cafes, and a Waitrose. You can keep in shape at our subsidised gym, catch the latest shows and movies at our cinema, get your car washed and even get pampered at our beauty salon .
Shift pattern
You will be required to work on-site a shift pattern that covers a 7-day fortnight. This would normally be comprised of Week 1 - Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun / Week 2 - Wed, Thu 12-hour days with a one-hour break from 7am to 7pm.
