THE ROLE

He-Man Dual Controls Ltd is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Design Engineer with a hands-on approach and an eye for detail to join our friendly team specialised in the design and manufacture of automotive dual-control systems.

The candidate must have experience in 3D modelling and drafting, ideally using Inventor, mechanism design, preparation of BOM’s and production of technical publications.

Responsibilities

  • Developing 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings and physical prototypes using common workshop machinery, often within short timescales.
  • Ownership of the design phase from specification through drawing release, ERP system population and production.
  • Supporting the development of products with an understanding of reliability and performance requirements, including all aspects of the product design criteria, product function and customer needs.
  • Ensuring quality in a product’s design for usability, reliability, functionality and manufacturability.
  • Applying design to cost and design for manufacturability methods to support company objectives.
  • Contributing as a team member within the Engineering team, carrying out assigned responsibilities/sharing knowledge/identifying process improvements to improve department efficiency.
  • Working collaboratively with interfacing team members in all aspects of work, including observing all Health and Safety measures.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION

Essential skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years 3D mechanical design experience using Inventor (other CAD platforms will be considered)
  • HNC or above in an engineering related subject
  • Competent operation of common workshop machinery
  • Time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly motivated team player
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis methods
  • Personal attributes must include our companies Core Employee Characteristics
  • Maintain and promote compliance to all SH&E legislation.
  • Full driving license
  • Sheet metal design experience
  • Experience within a production environment.
  • Automotive background knowledge

Independence level/Reports to / succession / Training

  • A combination of team-based and individual design activities
  • Reports to the Engineering Manager
  • Likely succession for this role would be
  • Senior Design Engineer
  • Production Cell Leader

Potential training in this role

  • 123 ERP systems

Hours of work

Monday - Thursday: 07:30 to 16:00, Friday: 07:30 to 15:00 (39 hrs per week)

Pay: £30,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
