Our client, a market leading manufacturing business are currently recruiting for an experienced designer to work at their site in Blackburn. This role will play a vital part of the company’s strategy and will assist in the development of products, sampling and improving manufacturing processes as well as supporting the customers and sales team with technical advice on packaging issues and development.

Main responsibilities

• Packaging development - producing and testing innovative packaging concepts and providing customers solutions to their packaging needs within strict deadlines.
• Manage the day-to-day workload for the design department.
• Creating both large and small batches of plotted CAD samples as and when required to meet customers’ expectations.
• Packing and dispatch of samples and & sample kits.
• Full co-ordination and communication with couriers, solving any dispatch or delivery issues.
• Designing and ordering tooling with key considerations of manufacturing efficiencies and print.
• Support with research and development of new sustainable materials, innovative machine processes and packaging concepts.
• Use of creative software including CAD system and Adobe package.
• Creating machine parts on 3D printer using Autodesk fusion 360 + Cura software.

Skills & Experience:

• To be computer literate especially when using Microsoft packages.
• Proven experience with CAD software.
• Ability to use Adobe software is a plus.
• Experience in packaging design whether corrugated or other is a must.
• Knowledge of manufacturing and production processes.

Hours and pay

• Monday to Friday, office hours
• Salary starting at £32,000 per annum
