We are looking for a Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. A great opportunity for somebody looking for a new challenge or someone looking for the next step in their career.

Under an experienced Head Chef you will be working within a team to build and grow the food offering working with local, fresh, seasonal produce.

Following on from a succesful year where we were recognised as the Best Pub in Devon at the Devon tourism awards and picking up gold awards in both the Taste of the West and Devon Food and Drink awards, we now aim to build on this in the coming year.

A 16th century Devonshire pub The Castle Inn has thirteen bedrooms, and is situated in the historic and picturesque Dartmoor village of Lydford. With low ceilings, wonky walls, open fires and character in abundance. Within the Dartmoor National Park and just off the A30 between the market towns of Okehampton and Tavistock (both 10 minutes away) and just 200m from the entrance to the majestic National Trust site of Lydford Gorge. We are surrounded by invigorating walks, horse trails and national cycle routes, with cosy corners and roaring fires in the winter months and large beautiful gardens to enjoy in the summer, there’s something for everyone year round. The pub has a main bar, snug, restaurant, heated and lit stretch tent, thirteen bedrooms and large beautiful gardens.

Key requirements for the post

• Previous experience working in a kitchen for minimum 3 years
• Ability to cover and manage kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
• Food Hygiene Certificate
• Approachable, with a friendly and professional manner
• High personal standards
• Your rostered hours will include peak shifts including weekends and bank holidays to ensure the smooth & efficient operation of food production.
