JOB TITLE : Pathology Subject Teacher
REPORTS TO: Lead of Curriculum
GENERAL OVERVIEW OF BETONICA
Betonica is a community interest company focused on sustainability and education in herbal medicine. It delivers a professional course on Medical Herbalism through a 4-year Diploma and is the equivalent of a science degree taught in UK higher education (BSc). There are currently more than 100 students studying at Betonica 4 year training programme.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To deliver Pathology lectures in Years 2 & 3. This includes guiding students, ensuring materials are kept up to date and preparing own lecture materials (current lecture and course materials will be provided).
The job includes reviewing and developing the current curriculum materials including subject descriptors, workbooks, seminar slides/handouts and assessments (assignments & exams) under the guidance of the Lead of Curriculum. This content should be reviewed on an annual basis.
In addition, marking of student assessments (assignments and exams) (with a team of markers) is also a requirement.

- Guidance for student assessment (assignments and exams)
- Marking of student assignments and exams (with support)
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- To develop an understanding of general & systemic pathological processes and how it relates to clinical practice (bringing together A&P, biochemistry, and clinical skills).
- Diploma/degree qualification in a relevant subject.
- Teaching qualification and/or previous experience of teaching Pathology or relevant similar subject at a higher education level.
- Student management experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Competent technical capabilities
- Own transport to arrive at teaching venues.
- Experience of technology in online teaching environments.
- We use Google Workspace for material management, which includes skills using Google online software including Meetings, Sheets, Documents, Slides and Workspace file management. This is very similar to Microsoft software but exists online, so no previous experience is necessary but technological understanding and adaptability is essential.
