We are a cafe and deli in Burnham Market, owned and run by a Tuscan wine and olive oil grower. We specialise in the food and wine of Montalcino, where our farm is based and from where we import our wine and extra virgin olive oil, which we use serve and sell in the shop.

We are looking for a passionate cook who also enjoys interacting with customers, somebody with a genuine interest in food and wine - especially regional Italian - or a desire to learn more to join our friendly team. Experience in a fast-paced, food-based environment is essential.

We are a small shop and cafe with an integrated kitchen area so this is a varied role; cooking and food prep is key but you will at times be serving customers and helping with the day to day running of the shop and cafe. This will inevitably mean sometimes you will have your hands in the sink or be dealing with orders coming from suppliers. In other words, the successful candidate will need to be able work across all areas and the ability to multiitask is crucial.

This is a permanent, full time role but we would consider a shorter week if necessary. Candidates MUST be available to work Sundays.

Main responsibilities

Preparing and serving seasonal Tuscan dishes including soups, salads, tarts and frittata, fresh pasta and lots more

Making daily focaccia and baking a variety of cakes

Making sandwiches to order

Helping to plan menus and manage ordering

Serving retail and cafe customers including taking and serving food orders and making coffee (barista standard)

Learning about our wines so that you can serve them with enthusiasm and knowledge

Helping manage stock and assisting with the general admin duties of the shop. Management experience in hospitality or food retail would be a bonus

Understanding our ethos and passing that on to our customers is absoulutely key. Flexibility is essential. Must be available to work on Sundays - as well as during holiday periods.
