ABC Doors have a new opportunity for a Junior Buyer, working at our Irlam office. Working alongside the Procurement Manager you’ll be responsible for helping to ensure that our field Engineers and installation teams have the tools and materials to do their jobs. This role is based in Irlam but there will be a requirement to travel from time to time, particularly visiting site or suppliers.
This is a new position and would suit someone starting on a career in Procurement or Purchasing. Experience is preferred but not essential, however you will need an enthusiastic and helpful manner and be ready to learn. Working hours are Monday to Friday but there will be occasional requirement for early starts/late finishes. A clean current driving licence will be helpful.
Purpose of Role
Working under the guidance of the Procurement Manager, responsible for purchasing product for customers at ABC Doors. Helping to source items and ensuring that these are delivered correctly and on time and supporting the maintenance of stock levels in Irlam and remote locations.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensuring accounts have parts purchased within required timescales and delivered to site or collection locations.
- Preparing materials and work kit packs for engineer collections.
- With the Procurement Manager, reviewing supplier prices and where possible sourcing cost effective alternatives for ABC Doors.
- Tracking purchase issue and return of tools for Engineers/Fitters/Apprentices
- Ensuring accurate stock information and part pricing on ERP stock/catalogue system.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Dimensions of Role
- Raise purchase orders for all queued works requiring parts.
- Where directed and under the guidance of the Procurement Manager, source and purchase raw materials and finished components for door installation and repair.
- Receive deliveries, update flag system on ERP system accordingly, label and store parts
- Order tools, equipment and PPE for engineers and workshop.
- Administer Screwfix account including providing retrospective purchase orders for engineers’ purchases, request/delete cards.
- Communicate with management, suppliers, and other departments.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation, i.e., POD.
- Maintain stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of these as needed.
- Collect parts from suppliers, arrange for delivery to sites, act as liaison between locations.
- Work with schedulers to ensure parts are available within agreed timescales, organise and update van stocks.
- Expectation for some evening and weekend work- and work-related calls as required in the role.

- You will be expected to carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties.
Desirable Qualifications
Excellent English and financial/analytical skills.
Experience as a Buyer or Purchasing Officer in a similar environment (experience in doors or construction materials is a plus

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Pay: £26,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
