To deliver this exciting piece of work, we’re hiring a Test and Test Automation Manager on a Fixed-term Contract/Secondment basis for 24 months.

In this role, you’ll take a leading role in the development and implementation of test automation strategies, providing senior level surety and direction to your team of System Integration and Test Engineers in the delivery of full automation testing of new and existing web, mobile and integrated solutions which serve all areas of our business.

Working closely with the Application Development and Project teams, you’ll design and build frameworks for UI, unit, API and security testing to ensure comprehensive coverage and efficient defect detection, quickly evaluating outcomes to decide a course of action for testing and presenting back to Project Boards. As a brand-new role, you’ll have the opportunity to truly influence the face of testing at Midland Heart by supporting the design of automation testing frameworks that ensure efficient defect detection.

We don’t like to stand still, so you’ll be expected to really drive the continuous improvement of testing practices to improve the efficiency and innovation of solution development that ensure we remain competitive.

Our ideal candidate? We’re seeking an inquisitive, diligent, and methodical person who is motivated to take our testing capabilities to the next level! You’ll also demonstrate the following skills and experience:

You’ll hold a degree in a computer-related subject or hold professional qualifications in software testing or automation practices, for example ISTQB.

Experience working as an Automation Tester, SDET or similar at a senior level, with demonstrable experience of testing web, mobile and integrated solutions.

Experience in system testing, integration testing, UAT testing, end to end testing, performance testing, functional testing, and non-functional testing.

Experience working with Playwright.

Experience of line management, or a strong ambition for line management career with the ability to evidence capability and leadership aptitude.

As a Smart Working organisation, you can expect a balance of working from our Birmingham, Bath Row office and remotely from home – 3 days per week will be spent working from our Birmingham office, but this may vary depending on business need.
