We are currently looking for a HGV Mechanic/Fitter

About the role:

The core purpose of this job function is to be responsible for the installation, repair and refit of specialist and large components in the UK’s latest Infantry support vehicle - Boxer.

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

§ Final assembly of armoured wheeled vehicles and sub-assemblies.

§ Problem solving, fault finding and rectification work.

§ The understanding and use of work instructions.

§ Understanding and adhering to standardised work.

§ Diagnosing mechanical issues, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, proposing a course of action and rectify where relevant.

§ The use of diagnostic software systems to complete initial installation of softwares and diagnose and repair any issues.

§ Order parts and equipment as necessary to fulfil job requirements.

§ Liaise with internal departments, supply chain and manufacturers on problems to achieve an efficient resolution.

§ Complete all documentation and receipts, SAP bookings, including inspection sheets, and apply signatures and operator stamps as appropriate.

§ Undertake all required training, offering support and to deliver training as required.

§ Ability to complete allocated tasks in a timely manner.

§ Willing to engage in the company’s 5’s and housekeeping policies.

§ Driving and movement of the Boxer vehicle to required locations on site.

§ Completion of static testing.

§ To comply with Environmental, Health and Safety policies and identify health and safety hazards prior to the start of work.

§ To ensure personal safety and the safety of other employees is not compromised by their actions and to apply applicable safety requirements to comply with the regulatory agencies.

What we 're looking for:

We need you to have proven previous experience as a HGV Mechanic and hold a C&G, NVQ or equivalent in this area. Holding a level 3 diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance is advantageous.
