Job Summary
A rare opportunity has arisen to join this independently owned Gastro pub in North Devon. We are seeking an imaginative and creative Head Chef who can lead and inspire our chef and kitchen team. We have a well established reputation for food, and a very high proportion of return customers, and are looking for a hands-on, experienced leader to deliver an exciting and innovative menu, that keeps our customers coming back time and time again. With an emphasis on fresh cooking, the ideal candidate will be someone with a genuine passion for food, who understands how to develop an already strong food-led reputation all year round.
This 82 cover country pub attracts customers who enjoy restaurant quality food that is freshly prepared in cosy, charming and relaxed surroundings. We are independently owned, meaning we can offer the potential to create something really unique with our menus and food offerings. Located close to North Devon’s finest surf beaches, we have a strong summer trade, so an ability to capitalise on this, and lead a high volume fast-paced kitchen in the summer is essential. We do not close in the winter so this is a year round position with job security and benefits.
You Will be :

- Highly organised, with the ability to plan the best use of resources, staff, stock
- Understand that customer satisfaction is key to success, and take steps necessary to seek feedback and improve our food offering
Duties involve;
- Ensuring the restaurant meets profit targets
- Creating exciting menus & specials that set us apart from competitors
- Costing Menus/achieving monthly GP target % as measured by independent audit
- Overseeing Food Ordering and managing supplier relationships.
- Food Preparation & Leading Service
- Managing and motivating the kitchen team & continually raising standards
- Creating Weekly Kitchen Rota that ensures we meet the demands of the business
- Management of cleaning routines and ensuring they are adhered to
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Proven track record in food safety legislation, up to date allergen knowledge
- Supervisory experience in a culinary setting
- Background in hospitality and restaurant operations
- Ability to manage food production efficiently and effectively
