Purpose of job:
To deliver high-level, quality and innovative business development and marketing strategies for BCLP sectors.
Working as a collaborative member of the Sectors team, the Senior Sector Marketing Executive works closely with Partners / fee earners across the global business and with other members of the Marketing & BD team to advise on and drive the execution of marketing and business development initiatives across the firm’s Priority sectors.
This role will support a combination of the following sectors:
- Financial Institutions (focused alignment)
- Energy Transition (focused alignment)
- Sports & Entertainment
- Food & Agribusiness
- ESG

The Marketing and Business Development department at BCLP has been built in a non-traditional way for the legal sector. The team comprises specialists from backgrounds including PR, design, media, and the big-four accountants. Key responsibilities:
- Aligned responsibility for the Financial Institutions and Energy Transition Sectors. Working directly with the Sector SBDM and other members of the wider sector and BD team as necessary
- Work closely with designated sector leaders and partners globally to develop strategic marketing plans and identify issues and opportunities for us to develop new business or cross-sell.
- Ensure that the required progress and results are generated against the above plans and that partner teams are kept aware of, and consulted around, the development and implementation of the plans.
- Work closely with growth client account teams including relationship leads and account managers to maintain client resources and platforms, track BD opportunities, execute client plans and ensure client development across the firm.
- Assist with the development of new product offerings, working with partners and the wider marketing and BD teams to define the benefits of the new products and the most effective routes to market (i.e. via sector marketing campaigns and client development activities).
- Connect and work with other BD and marketing teams globally (design, events, data, CRM, communications) to ensure the right resources are leveraged.
- Regularly interact with and provide support to offices where the sector is particularly active or where the strategy identifies a particular region for sector growth.
- Responsibility (management and / or hands on delivery / contribution) for sector specific pitching, including ensuring a “best practice” approach, management and production of individual pitches/capability statements and coaching on pitch presentations
- Leading marketing initiatives such as thought-leadership campaigns as appropriate
- Tracks and reports on sector new business activity, pitches and proposals and activities
- Support the development of sector driven client focus programmes with the CRM team where appropriate. Managing and developing key clients focused on revenue generation
- Delivering insightful content based marketing (email and client alerts) working closely with and harnessing the resources of the Campaigns team and other central resources.
- Management and delivery (in collaboration with relevant BD teams) of directory submissions and awards entries
- Developing news angles, opinion pieces, perspectives on emerging trends and themes that can be used to engage with a range of audiences such as clients, targets, influencers, intermediaries and the media
- Sharing best practice with other Business Development groups
- Working with the Knowledge Management team and a cross-practice group of fee earners to develop and deliver relevant email alerts to specific clients/targets
- Generating/developing content for sector website pages and social media posts
- Assisting with marketing budget management and reporting
- Working with Finance & Accounting (F&A) to produce certain client reports specific to billings and profitability to guide business development strategies
- Acting as part of a wider global team who collaborate and support each other on a global basis.

Experience and knowledge
- Degree educated, possibly with a Marketing (CIM) qualification
- Professional services background
- Solid Business Development and Marketing experience
