An opportunity has arisen for a bank Health Care Assistant with one year’s experience to join the team in our well-established Day Surgery Units.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual, with excellent communication and organisational skills. Opportunities will be given for continued professional development. Although the role is being offered on a bank contract, a commitment to work Saturday 's will be required (as per clinical schedules - currently once a fortnight). Additional hours will be offered where available.

Job summary
To assist nursing staff in the provision of safe effective care for patients attending the hospital.
To maintain safe and effective standard of care using research and evidence-based practice.
To ensure standards of practice are in accordance with the National Minimum Standards for Independent Healthcare.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties:
Work effectively in a team in liaison with senior staff.
To carry out clinical duties in accordance with unit policy and procedures
To maintain and record accurate and appropriate clinical records of patient treatment and outcomes and to take appropriate action where required.
Work alongside the clinician in the provision of patient care and act as chaperone.
Participate in out-patient clinics as required. Undertake and record relevant patient investigation (once assessed as competent - training will be provided). These may include:
(General clinic duties)
- Height, weight and BMI calculation
- Urinalysis
- Blood pressure, temperature and pulse
- Venepuncture
- Blood glucose monitoring
- INR monitoring
- ECG
- Uroflowmetry
(Eye clinic duties)
- Biometry
- Auto refraction
- OCT
- Visual Fields
- Ophthalmic Pre-assessment
To ensure each working environment and all equipment is clean, in safe working order and adequately stocked with supplies. Report any deficiencies in stock or equipment and order supplies as required. Ensure environment is suitable and safe for patients and visitors.
Observe for possible complications of treatment and take appropriate action where required.
Identify department nursing problems or needs and liaise with other members of staff.
Additional Duties:
To be responsible for your continuing personal development and to participate in the development of other members of the team.
To assist in the orientation of new and temporary staff.
To promote best practice for Infection Control.
To participate in:
- mandatory training and training relevant to role
- regular staff meetings
- the appraisal system
- quality assurance audit
To maintain cleanliness and stock levels in clinic rooms/ward.
Any other duties deemed suitable by the manager as appropriate to the role.
