This position is office-based, meaning regular in-person collaboration or use of office equipment is essential to maximize effectiveness for this team and position. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Glasgow office location and should expect to be in office a minimum of 4 days per week.

The Sonos Build Engineering team is focused on building and maintaining the software delivery pipelines that keep our customer experiences ahead of the curve.

What You’ll Do

As a Build Engineer at Sonos, you’ll work with the team to create and maintain the continuous integration and software delivery pipelines for Sonos. You’ll design, develop, and improve source control management systems, continuous integration engines, artifact repositories, and workflow automation. Your goal is to make it easy and efficient to take code from development environment to releasable artifact. This is a critical role for a build tools and software pipeline aficionado who wants to work in a modern environment creating a great product that people love.   • Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and delivery.
  • Manage Source control management systems (Git and GitHub)
  • Software build tooling for applications built on Mac, Windows, and Linux
  • CI servers (Jenkins)
  • Enterprise repository management systems (Artifactory)
  • Workflow management and collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Google Suite)
  • Cloud infrastructure (AWS)
  • Monitor system performance and reliability using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure a smooth transition from development to production.
  • Maintain and administer cloud infrastructure.
  • Implement security best practices in CI/CD and production environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments.
  • Document processes, configurations, and solutions for internal knowledge sharing.
  • Mentor and guide junior DevOps engineers

What You’ll Need

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of modern source code control tools and CI/CD frameworks
  • Shell script experience or exposure (bash)
  • Programming experience with the following (Python, Javascript)
  • Experience or exposure to creating or maintaining software build scripts (Yocto, Maven, Gradle, or Other)
  • Automating workflows between source control systems (Git based), CI systems (Jenkins or other), and Agile project management tools (Jira or other)
  • Experience or exposure with cloud based infrastructure (AWS or other)
  • Experience or exposure with containers (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Basic understanding on visualization tools (Tableau &/ Datadog)
  • Basic data analytics skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient working in Github (PR - Review - Commit) Processes
  • Strong troubleshooting/analytical skills in Jenkins/Python CI/CD environments
  • Enterprise Repository Management Systems (Artifactory)
  • Platform as a service tools:
  • AWS, Kubernetes, Docker containerization, Argo CD, Groovy, Poetry, Helm
  • Code quality tools - SonarQube
  • Build system tools - Yocto, Meson, Cmake
