Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Support Worker to provide high-quality assistance to individuals with diverse needs. The role focuses on enabling service users to live as independently as possible by offering emotional support, promoting social inclusion, and assisting with daily activities, excluding personal care tasks such as bathing, toileting, or dressing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Emotional Support: Provide encouragement and emotional assistance to individuals to help build their confidence and self-esteem.
- Social Inclusion: Assist in planning and participating in recreational and community-based activities, including outings, hobby groups, and social events.
- Life Skills Development: Support individuals in developing practical skills, such as cooking, budgeting, shopping, and managing appointments.
- Transportation Support: Accompany service users to appointments, social activities, or educational opportunities when required.
- Household Assistance: Help with light domestic tasks, such as tidying, organizing, and meal preparation, as agreed with the service user.
- Administrative Assistance: Aid with paperwork or online tasks, including completing forms, managing emails, or applying for benefits.
- Advocacy: Act as an advocate for service users, ensuring their voices are heard and needs are met.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Observe and report changes in the service user’s behavior or circumstances to the appropriate team members or supervisors.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and administrative tasks.
- A valid driver’s license.
Preferred but not essential Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a support or community care role.
- Knowledge of mental health, disability, or social care services.
- Relevant training or certification (e.g., first aid, safeguarding).
Working Conditions:
- Flexible hours, including potential evening or weekend shifts.
- Work in various settings, such as the service user’s home, community venues, or remote locations.
