Shop Manager, Buyer and office assistant to Office Manager for The Garden Design Studio - High-and exciting new opportunity with a well establish Garden Design and Build Company as they branch out into the High Street

Overview: The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the new Garden Studio which will be opening in Goring High Street in early Summer 2025, whilst in addition providing support to the Office Manager for The Garden Design Co Ltd. (www.gardendesignco.co.uk)

The newly acquired premises will incorporate a Design Studio, to accommodate the Companys existing design team, whilst the front of house will be an high end retail outlet selling unique range of garden accessories, specimen plants, containers and locally sourced bouquets. The premises will offer a fabulous meeting point for existing and new clients to talk about their projects and our design and build service

The new role will be responsible for running the store and supporting the back office staff and in particular the Office Managers existing role supporting the Companys design and build business

The right applicant will offer exceptional customer service, and drive sales performance, and will develop and maintaining the stores unique ambiance. This role requires strong leadership skills, a passion for luxury garden accessories, a love of all things gardens and a flair for creative design, and yet be flexible enough to support the Office Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the shop’s visual merchandising aligns with its luxurious and stylish identity.
  • Principal buyer of the Shops goods
  • Research market trends and identify high-quality products that align with the store’s identity.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate favourable terms.
  • Monitor inventory needs and place timely orders to ensure consistent stock levels.
  • Collaborate with the Directors on merchandising and promotional strategies.
  • Stay updated on customer preferences and adjust buying strategies accordingly
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues to provide a seamless shopping experience, arranging deliveries and helping source products
  • Develop operate and maintain the Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) system for efficient transactions and accurate sales reporting.
  • Monitor financial performance, including budgeting and expense management and bank reconciliation
  • Coordinate marketing and promotional activities to attract new customers and retain loyal clientele.
  • Manage and work with staff, and in due course provide training and development to ensure excellent service standards.
  • Create and implement sales strategies to meet revenue targets while maintaining the brand’s image.
  • Support the Office Manager with administrative tasks and collaborate closely with the Director on strategic initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in retail management, preferably within luxury or boutique environments.
  • Love of gardens and flair for design and creativity
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Numeracy skills with the ability to analyze sales data and financial reports.
  • Proficiency in operating EPOS systems.
  • Knowledge of garden accessories, gardens, design and plants is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in inventory systems and basic financial management.

Hours

40 hour week (negotiable), to include some Saturdays

Rate of Pay

Competitive with Pension and life assurance

28 days holiday including statutory holidays
