The candidate
Restart are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless delivery of our solutions to our growing customer base. As a key member of our Managed Service team, you will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to successfully deploy and maintain our solutions.
In this role, you will work on multiple deliveries, focusing on the design, automation, and optimisation of our cloud-based environments, as well as some on-premise implementations. Our core technology stack is built around Kubernetes, leveraging components such as Kafka, Elasticsearch, and other cloud-native technologies to support high-performance, scalable applications.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DevOps practices, a deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, and experience with container orchestration and infrastructure as code. Roles and Responsibilities
- Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters in both on-premise environments and Azure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
- Responsible for Kubernetes upgrades, monitoring, and maintenance of containerised workloads, proactively identifying and addressing performance or reliability issues.
- Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the building, testing, and deployment of our microservices.
- Automate routine operational tasks through scripting in Bash, Python, or similar, improving efficiency and reducing manual effort.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to containers, Kubernetes, Linux hosts, and related infrastructure, ensuring system stability and performance.
Experience and Qualifications
- Hands-on experience managing production Kubernetes clusters in both bare-metal and cloud environments (Azure preferred).
- Experience working with database technologies, such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other relational or NoSQL databases, including performance tuning and administration.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, including HTTP(S), DNS, firewalls, VPNs, TLS/SSL certificates, and core network security principles, ensuring secure and efficient communication across systems and environments.
- Strong expertise in administering Linux hosts, ensuring security, performance, and reliability.
- Proficient in Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, and Git.
- Familiarity with automation and CI/CD tools, including TeamCity, Jenkins, and Azure Pipelines.
- Skilled in at least one programming language, such as Bash or Python, for automating tasks, system management and troubleshooting code issues to ensure optimal system performance.
- Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a high degree of adaptability and resilience.
