Following the growth of our business we are now looking to recruit an experience Legal Assistant to join our Private Client team who can support and help to grow the business.
Job Purpose
We are looking for an ambitious and experienced legal assistant who has a passion for Private Client work.
The successful applicant will have recent knowledge and experience within a Private Client Department, assisting on a varied caseload of Wills, LPA’s and Declaration of Trusts.
Practical experience handling client enquiries face to face and via telephone and email is essential as well as being confident and articulate.
The ideal candidate will be studying for Membership of the Institute of Legal Executives, have working knowledge of case management systems and be able to demonstrate a commitment to personal development.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintaining the Case Management Workflow and Keystages ensuring these are run when due, thus ensuring all parties are sent real time updates;
- Post Room - dealing with the post received into the electronic Post Room on a daily basis;
- To assist Fee Earners in the management of their caseload by booking appointments, actioning legal procedures and dealing with file related queries either face to face or by telephone;
- To complete tasks competently and within defined timescales including taking dictations and typing;
- Preparing, checking and sending of documents
- Liaising with clients and other contacts, dealing with queries, taking instructions and conducting letter and telephone enquiries as necessary;
- Preparing the file for closure to include storage and recording of original documents;
- Maximize the firm’s potential to cross - sell services by identifying appropriate opportunities;
- Ensuring compliance with the firms’ policies and procedures;
- Any other reasonable duties as directed by your Head of Department.
Requirements
- Completed, or working towards, a recognised legal qualification;
- Have recent knowledge and experience working within a Private Client Department dealing with a caseload of Wills, LPAs and Declarations of Trusts;
- Experience working within a busy legal office;
- Robust approach to relationships and interactions with colleagues;
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and adhere to critical deadlines;
- IT literate and have good keyboard skills - Microsoft Office is essential.

We work with well known training provider LTC Kent to offer all employees the opportunity to undertake professional training and development. This will be discussed with you when you join the business, and a training plan will be put together for you.
