Job Overview:
Regional Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the South depots. This role involves managing transportation operations, coordinating logistics, and ensuring compliance with regulations to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and timely services to customers. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the container haulage sector, with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management: Oversee the daily operations of the planning teams, ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of containers.
- Fleet Management: Assist the Transport Manager with Supervise the scheduling, maintenance, and performance of the company’s vehicle fleet, ensuring compliance with all legal and safety requirements.
- Route Planning & Optimisation: Overview the planning teams to ensure the fleet and driver utilisation is planned efficiently.
- Staff Management: Lead, motivate, and manage a team of planners, Customer Service, and operations staff. Provide ongoing training, development, and performance reviews.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met and their expectations exceeded. Handle customer inquiries and complaints efficiently.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to all relevant transportation regulations, including environmental, safety, and compliance standards. Support the TM in ensuring all compliance is fully adhered to.
- Cost Control & Budgeting: Monitor and manage the depot P&Ls. Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality.
- Reporting & Analytics: Provide regular operational reports to senior management, including performance metrics, KPIs, and any identified issues or risks.
- Problem Resolution: Handle any operational issues or disruptions (e.g., delays, accidents, or unforeseen challenges) and ensure quick and effective resolution.
- Health & Safety: Ensure that the health and safety protocols for both drivers and staff are strictly followed at all times.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in container haulage, with prior experience in Operations or Transport manager roles. .
- Excellent leadership, management, and team-building skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Sound knowledge of transport regulations, health and safety compliance, and environmental policies.
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
- Proficient in using transport management software and systems.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and control costs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in using Tops
- Experience in Planning and Operations
- CPC holder
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with occasional on-call or out-of-hours requirements.
- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate client needs and operational requirements.
- Potential for travel to customer sites, as necessary
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £45,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
