Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and compassionate Service Manager to manage our clinical and crisis services. This role will involve overseeing our counselling and Crisis Sanctuary services, ensuring they are delivered effectively and with high standards of care. The Service Manager will play a key role in the development and continuous improvement of counselling and therapy services on behalf of Nottinghamshire Mind, ensuring they are responsive to the needs of service users and aligned with our values.

The successful candidate will work closely with the service coordinator for clinical and crisis services, as well as other stakeholders, to deliver timely and impactful services. You will be responsible for ensuring that Crisis Sanctuaries services are accessible, safe, and well-coordinated, providing critical support to individuals in their time of need. This role will require a flexible working approach with regular evening and weekend hours.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management:

1. Lead and manage both clinical and crisis services, ensuring they are delivered effectively and efficiently to meet the needs of our client base.

2. Promote a culture of ethical practice, ensuring service users’ rights are respected and that services are delivered in a compassionate and non-discriminatory manner.

Staff Management and Development:

1. Provide day-to-day support, guidance, and supervision to staff and placement counsellors, fostering a positive and supportive team culture.

2. Ensure that staff are trained, developed, and equipped with the skills necessary to deliver high-quality services.

Service Development:

1. Develop and enhance the service offers for both Crisis and Clinical services, including the design, implementation, and evaluation of new initiatives to improve care.

2. Monitor service delivery, identify areas for improvement, and make necessary adjustments to ensure services are responsive to user needs.

Quality Assurance:

1. Ensure that clinical and non-clinical services meet or exceed relevant standards, including regulatory and contractual requirements.

2. Oversee the auditing and evaluation of services to ensure continuous improvement.

Budget and Resource Management:

1. Manage budgets and resources for services effectively, ensuring value for money and alignment with the overall goals of Nottinghamshire Mind.

Stakeholder Engagement:

1. Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including service users, healthcare providers, local authorities, and other partner organisations.

Crisis Response Coordination:

1. Oversee the coordination and delivery of rapid response crisis services, ensuring appropriate interventions and support are provided in a timely manner.

Risk Management & Safety:

1. Oversee the development and implementation of procedures for managing high-risk cases, ensuring service users’ safety and wellbeing, while ensuring adherence to safeguarding policies and collaborating with other agencies as necessary to safeguard vulnerable individuals.

Policy and Procedure Development:

1. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, standard operating procedures, and protocols for crisis services and clinical, ensuring they are in line with best practices and legislative requirements.

Reporting and Analysis:

1. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service outcomes to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for service improvement.

General

  • To work in a cross-organisational way with other teams within Nottinghamshire Mind to support organisational development and learning.
  • To work in line with Nottinghamshire Mind policies, procedures, codes and guidance, including in relation to health & safety, confidentiality, safeguarding, data protection and equal opportunities.
  • To actively promote the aims and principles of Nottinghamshire Mind and take part in any Nottinghamshire Mind activities as directed.
  • To undertake other duties that may be necessary as directed by the Manager, that are compatible with nature and of the post.

Person specification

Essential criteria

Experience & Qualifications

1. Clinical qualification and/or registration to BACP or equivalent (e.g., NVQ level 5 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent).

2. Experience in managing or coordinating mental health crisis services, including both clinical and non-clinical support.

3. Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing teams and providing supervision.

4. Experience in budget management and resource allocation.

Knowledge

1. Knowledge of mental health issues, particularly in crisis situations, and the ability to work with a range of professionals and stakeholders.

2. Understanding of relevant legislation, safeguarding protocols, and mental health service standards.

Abilities

1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external partners.

2. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to work under pressure in challenging situations.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

1. Experience in service development and project management within the mental health sector.

2. Knowledge of current mental health policies, crisis care frameworks, and commissioning arrangements.

3. A passion for improving mental health services and making a positive impact on service users’ lives.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: £26,520.00 per year

Expected hours: 30 per week
