An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supervising Social Worker to join Five Rivers Child Care a leading Social Enterprise supporting children and young people with a range of services, which includes foster homes located across England. By joining us, you will be part of a team wholly committed to our mission of ‘Turning children’s lives around’ to help children and young people who have experienced adversity to achieve their full potential.

This is for a Maternity Cover until June 2026.

The successful applicant will be working for the South and South-East Service , which has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (January 2022). The region covers Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset, Isle of Wight and has successfully expanded its footprint into East and West Sussex in line with our growth and development strategy.

We are looking for a Supervising Social Worker who can work on their own initiative alongside the Service Manager and Team Manager supporting Foster Carers whilst also helping with the planning and delivery of recruitment events across the region.

The post holder will require creativity, flexibility, and the ability to travel within mostly the Hampshire or Wiltshire area, but at times other areas of the region also. The role offers a hybrid way of working with work undertaken both at our office located in Salisbury and at home, as well as attending face to face meetings with Foster Carers.

Five Rivers works from a Trauma Informed (ATIC) Model with integration across our fostering, residential, clinical and education services to achieve the best possible outcomes for young people.

You will have experience of working within the Fostering Sector, either with an IFA or in the Local Authority. You will need the skills and knowledge to enable the completion of initial home visits through to Form F Assessment and presentation at an independent panel.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has the drive and ambition to provide more high-quality foster placements for children in the area where we know that there is a shortfall of foster families for children who need their care.

You will be responsible for:

  • Direct support of foster carers within a realistic caseload which enables a high level of supervision, monitoring, and intervention.
  • Working within a Trauma Informed Practice Model, which is continually evolving in line with research and practice developments.
  • Assist in undertaking initial visits to prospective foster carers and join carer recruitment activities.
  • Complete Form F Assessments
  • Be part of our Children and Young People Participations strategy and events
  • Work in collaboration with all colleagues and managers to achieve a high standard of service to Foster Carers and young people whilst meeting all Ofsted requirements.

You will receive: -

  • Formal induction and training in our paperless electronic recording and management system (CHARMs)
  • Professional social work supervision provided by a manager.
  • Reflective Practice opportunities lead by our qualified clinician.
  • Opportunities to integrate with our clinical, education and residential service provision.
  • Competitive annual leave allowance
  • Career progression opportunities
  • Market related salary plus car allowance
  • Pension scheme and access to employee assistance program.
  • Blue Light Card eligibility
  • Simply Health Membership

You will have:-

  • The desire to be a team player who wants to achieve best possible outcomes for all our children and foster carers.
  • Experience of working in the fostering sector and/or children/young people in social care
  • A formal Social Work Qualification
  • Be registered as a Social Worker with Social Work England
  • Have a valid driving license.
  • The right to work in the UK.
