Job Title: Accounts/Finance Manager
We are working with a highly successful, family-run business to recruit an experienced Finance Manager. With over 40 years in the industry and a growing portfolio across the Southwest, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a business on an exciting growth journey.
Overall Job Purpose:
As an Accounts/ Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the company’s financial health, ensuring strong financial management, compliance, and strategic decision-making. You will be expected to lead financial planning, reporting, and operational finance functions while supporting the company’s long-term success.
Responsible to: Company Director
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead the financial strategy while making sure financial goals are in line with the business objectives to drive growth and stability.
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to maintain financial stability and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with UK financial regulations, implement robust financial controls, and liaise with auditors and tax advisors.
- Oversee payroll, procurement, invoicing, and accounts management to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous development.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, process improvements, and financial efficiencies to enhance profitability.
- Provide strategic financial insights to senior leadership, supporting decision-making and long-term business growth.

Personal Qualities and Qualifications
Personal Specifications:
- Proven experience in a senior finance role within an SME environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial compliance.
- A strategic thinker, able to balance detail-oriented tasks with long-term planning.
- Proficient in financial systems and data analytics tools.
- Experience in financial modelling and scenario analysis to support business growth.
- Ability to implement financial controls and manage risk effectively.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop teams.
- Demonstrated ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency improvements.
Qualification and Certifications:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualification or equivalent
- Strong understanding of UK accounting standards
- Experience in financial reporting and compliance
Additional Information
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 9 am - 5pm
Location: Outskirts of Exeter
Remunerations: DOE
Probation: 6 months
