About the Role
In this role, you’ll take charge of operating and managing a key part of the project, focused on delivering cutting-edge transmission and distribution (T&D) infrastructure.
The project will be a cornerstone of the UK’s first commercial-scale gas-fired power station with carbon capture technology, aiming to securely store up to 27 million tonnes of CO₂ annually by 2035. As the 275KV Project Manager, you’ll be the person ensuring the successful delivery of high-voltage substation projects 275KV projects ( 132-400KV) may also be interested in. including the all-important planning, risk management, and implementation stages.
Your work will have a direct impact on achieving the project’s commercial, safety, and environmental goals. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who’s passionate about high voltage engineering and making a tangible difference in the energy sector.

Working Hours
Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Core hours)
Key Duties
- Lead the delivery of high-voltage substation projects, ensuring all objectives are met within scope, time, and budget.
- Manage commercial and business risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Regularly update project status and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed with relevant reports and presentations.
- Review designs and challenge inputs to ensure they meet project and safety standards.
- Lead and manage health and safety processes, ensuring a Zero Harm approach is maintained.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing team, ensuring resources are effectively allocated and the project stays on track.
- Maintain and update risk registers, manage subcontractor relationships, and ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
- Advocate for and maintain high standards of digital data and operational practices to support successful project delivery.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in managing high voltage projects, particularly substation work 275KV (may also be interested in 132-400KV work).
- Formal project management qualifications or equivalent
- CSCS and SMSTS (or equivalent) qualifications.
- Previous experience working with National Grid on substation projects.
- Driving license
- A solid track record of delivering projects
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
