Overview:
City Site Solutions is actively seeking an experienced Contracts Manager/Estimator to join a dynamic team in a permanent position. This is a great opportunity to become part of a company that specialises in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation for large-scale industrial projects within the water, utilities, and energy sectors, based in Oxfordshire.
As an Electrical Contracts Manager/Estimator, you will collaborate with senior management, including the Managing Director, Technical Manager, Electrical Supervisors, and the Operations Director. Your primary responsibility will be to manage projects from start to finish, focusing on resource optimisation and ensuring profitability. Additionally, you will assist with estimating tasks when required. The role will involve overseeing both local and nationwide projects, with some travel required.
The ideal candidate will work autonomously, demonstrate strong initiative, and possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project life cycles, ensuring efficient resource use and profitability from conception to completion.
- Prepare tenders and quotations based on project specifications and drawings.
- Identify new opportunities within existing contracts and manage project variations and costings.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop method statements.
- Source materials required for the projects.
- Schedule and allocate labor efficiently alongside the project team.
- Ensure health and safety compliance on site with the site supervisor.
- Source and manage subcontractors and other trades involved in the project.
- Maintain and organize test certification and project documentation.
- Provide O&M (Operations & Maintenance) support as required.
- Liaise with clients to maintain strong working relationships.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement.
- Support the Managing Director with estimating tasks for projects up to £3M, with a preference for experience in bidding for projects valued around £1M.
- Price electrical aspects of projects, including motors, controls, instrumentation, cabling, and containment for various installations.
- Perform site assessments, identifying risks and potential issues.
- Attend handover meetings to discuss project scope, estimates, and any clarifications or assumptions.
Necessary Skills:
- At least 5 years of experience in a Contracts Manager role, ideally within the MEICA, water treatment, or industrial sectors.
- Strong technical background and proven experience in providing solutions and costings for large-scale industrial projects.
- Analytical mindset and ability to solve complex problems.
- Full, clean driving license (preferably).
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to introducing new ideas.
- Ability to work independently, taking initiative and managing tasks without constant supervision.
- Familiarity with Health and Safety regulations and the ability to assist with creating RAMS documentation.
Desirable Skills:
- Commercial awareness and understanding of business operations.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong team collaboration, financial management, and organizational skills.
- Confident in presenting to senior managers and directors.
- Proficiency in computer software, with a high level of literacy.
- Experience with CAD software would be advantageous, as you may be asked to assist in editing electrical drawings and designs.
Training:
Full training will be provided, covering business operations, products, services, and specific job-related tasks to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the role.
Hours, Pay, and Benefits:
- 40 hours per week, plus travel (flat rate). Specific working hours will be discussed on an individual basis.
- Overtime opportunities are available.
- Uplifted rates for working away from home.
- 28 days of holiday per year (including bank holidays), increasing to 33 days after 5 years of service (pro-rated for part-time employees).
- Competitive salary ranging from £40,000 to £60,000, depending on experience.
- Company-contributory pension scheme after three months of service.
- Company vehicle and fuel card provided.
Additional Information:
All new employees will be required to undergo a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check upon accepting the role.
