Quality Engineer (Manufacturing)

Based Huncoat, Nr Burnley.

We are currently looking to recruit for the above position, responsible for ensuring that products meet quality standards, driving process improvements, and overseeing quality control systems within the organisation. This key role will work closely with cross-functional teams, lead root cause analysis, and support the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).

The Role

  • Undertake complex problem solving & root cause analysis (RCA) using quality management tools, developing action plans for corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Monitor defect trends, inefficiencies, & quality issues, generating trend analysis reports and KPIs to provide management with actionable insights & recommendations for improvement.
  • Optimise production workflows by analysing processes, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing Lean principles to enhance productivity and quality, reducing waste.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify quality vulnerabilities and implement preventative measures; lead FMEA sessions to anticipate and address potential product failures
  • Lead internal audits, preparing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., ISO).
  • Provide training to employees on quality standards, best practices & quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits, non-conformance reports (NCRs), CAPA actions, and other quality-related documentation.
  • Work closely with designers and engineers to ensure that final products meet intended design specifications and quality standards.
  • Lead initiatives to improve product quality, reduce defects, and enhance process efficiency.

The Person

  • Previous experience in quality engineering role.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with experience in conducting complex root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective actions (CAPA).
  • Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC) using quality management tools including, 5 Whys, FMEA/PFMEA.
  • Experience in using statistical techniques to assess and improve product quality, including SPC and control charts.
  • Strong knowledge of quality standards, including ISO certifications and industry-specific regulations.
  • Experience conducting internal quality audits, CAPA implementation, and working with quality management systems.
  • Ability to develop and maintain SOPs, quality control documents, and quality reports.
