Overview

To provide leadership in all matters relating to testing quality assurance for a programme. Provide a robust testing function within a programme that will support to the extent necessary in making any decisions whether to sign off technical solutions or not.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and managing the execution of solution testing for individual delivery programmes. Ultimately ensuring new solutions are fit for purpose and ready to be deployed to our employees and customers.
  • Designing the overall solution test approach for a programme and providing oversight of programme and project level testing including; Unit, Functional Acceptance, System Integration, Regression, User Acceptance, Operational Acceptance, Pre-Production, Performance and Volume test.
  • Resource planning, recruitment and management of programme and project level test resources (including permanent and flex resources).
  • Agreeing the testing approach, resource, budget and technical requirements directly with a programme management team and third party suppliers.
  • Liaising with Solution Architects and Technical Architects and technical leads to ensure that internal and Supplier led testing has sufficient coverage to assure the overall solution. Ensuring that high risk areas are identified and included within the test plan.
  • Ensuring best practice test planning and execution by suppliers as part of programme delivery. Working directly with supplier teams to ensure the Test Strategy is followed and there is a clear hand-over between supplier and teams. Leading on resolving test related issues between both parties.
  • Selection and utilization of testing tools for the platform and each project in the platform, including tools for test automation and test management.
  • Understanding the high level E2E business and technical requirements and intended implementation.
  • Working with different internal technical groups and vendors to ensure sufficient test coverage and quality.
  • Acting as single point of contact for the quality of the solution at any given stage.
  • Educating stakeholders in Agile ways of working and the benefits of iterative software delivery.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Programme Test planning, management and execution.
  • Test resource management, including budgeting and recruitment.
  • Supplier management, including management of third-party test resources.
  • Supplier work package negotiation, including assurance / oversight of testing undertaken by suppliers.
  • Strong problem solving and the ability to lead on resolving programme test planning and execution issues.
  • Technically competent with Azure, web server / services, middleware technology, mobile technology Xamarin and APIs
  • Exposure to database technologies.
  • Strong Analytical skills, preferably developed as part of any performance engineering orientated background
  • Experience of working with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Agile training/qualifications or experience incl. Scrum & Kanban
  • Programme Test Management in large scale programme environments with multiple projects.
  • Programme level leadership on Quality Assurance in hybrid environments comprising of internal and supplier engineering teams.
  • Resource and budget planning and management for test resources within programmes.
  • Working within a matrix management structure, leading on balancing programme level demands with alignment to the overall Test Strategy and team.
  • Hands on Experience and use of any industry recognised automated testing solution, particularly in the area of unit, functional, regression, accessibility
  • Technology based higher education or above
  • Formal certification (e.g. ISEB) would be advantageous
  • Certified Agile Tester (e.g. CAT) would be advantageous
