We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team at Salt & Malt. This is an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional with a love for seafood and an enthusiasm for creating iconic fish and chip dishes that stay true to our restaurant’s ethos of quality and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and design a menu that showcases our signature fish and chips, alongside seasonal specials that highlight local produce.

• Oversee all kitchen operations, including the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food.

• Manage and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment focused on excellence.

• Ensure high standards of hygiene and food safety are maintained throughout the kitchen, in compliance with health regulations.

• Control stock levels and manage inventory to minimise waste and enhance cost efficiency.

• Collaborate with front-of-house staff to enhance the overall dining experience for our guests.

• Stay current with industry trends and incorporate new techniques and flavours into our offerings.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar role within a busy restaurant environment, preferably in a seafood-focused establishment.

• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, menu development, and kitchen management, specifically related to fish and chips.

• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a passion for mentoring and developing team members.

• A creative flair for menu design and presentation, with a keen eye for detail.

• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.

• Food hygiene certification is essential.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £34,000.00 per year
