Job Overview:
The Adult Education & Learning Training Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing our adult learning programs. This position involves leading and managing a team of skills coaches and tutors to ensure the timely delivery of apprenticeship programs maintaining high quality provision. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, external partners, employers, and apprentices to ensure the success of our apprenticeship programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in post 16 education and a proven history of successfully managing a remote team.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the operational delivery of Adult Learning programmes across your team.
- Where applicable, manage the operational delivery of parallel programmes such as both funded and commercial Diploma only courses
- Manage, drive, and improve performance of a team of skills coaches ensuring clear objectives are set and managed.
- Challenge performance with skills coaches to drive improvements to KPIs relating to; timely achievement rates, qualification achievement rates, withdrawals, learners passed planned end date, progress reviews and off the job hours.
- Support the implementation and review of timely interventions with Skills Coaches, Apprentices, and employers to improve KPIs, reduce business risk and improve apprentice outcomes.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of skills coaches, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development and performance.
- Working alongside the quality team, support the continuous improvement, quality, and effectiveness of teaching, learning and assessment practices.
- Co-ordinate, in conjunction with the quality team and associated IQAs, the delivery of the CPD training plan for the team to ensure the skills coaches are making appropriate progress against their vocational and pedagogical competency for their role, including behaviours and attitudes, coaching, and mentoring.
- Work in collaboration with the senior leadership team to drive forward key strategic objectives including qualification achievement rates and timely qualification achievement.
- Oversee the planning and execution of apprenticeship programs, ensuring they meet the needs and expectations of our employers.
- Manage the timely delivery and progress of all component elements of a learner’s programme, including embedded diplomas and functional skills where applicable.
- Manage the team to close out IQA actions in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with skills coaches and employers to actively engage with apprentices, ensuring they remain motivated and on track throughout their training.
- Address any issues or concerns promptly.
- Organise and deploy Skills Coach resources and allocate new starts effectively and in a timely manner to ensure maximum caseload efficiency and to maximise service levels.
- Monitor the evidence packs/contractual paperwork required across apprenticeship programmes, ensuring Skills Coaches produce compliant evidence.
- Ensure all activity is undertaken in an efficient, cost effective and timely manner.
- Work closely with Business Development Managers to forecast completions and support effective recruitment of apprentices.
- Provide guidance and assistance in resolving challenges that may arise between skills coaches, learners, and employers, working to find mutually beneficial solutions.
- Ensure all apprenticeship programs adhere to relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards.
- Lead and support the team to ensure high quality delivery in line with ESFA Funding Rules/Audit/Ofsted
- Generate reports on programme performance, learner progress, timely achievements, early withdrawals, learners passed planned end date and progress reviews and report to the senior leadership team.
- Use data-driven insights to make informed strategic decisions and improvements.
- Foster positive relationships with employers, apprentices, and other key stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact for any programme-related enquiries or issues.
- Carry-out regular one to one staff performance reviews/supervisions. Drive timely completion of resulting action plans.
- Manage the new staff induction process ensuring new staff members are fully inducted into the Company including all policies, processes, and procedures applicable to new staff job roles.
- Be willing and able to readily respond to changing circumstances and expectations demonstrating a flexible mind set.
- Contribute to company’s Self-Assessment Report, Matrix, and Ofsted inspection by ensuring the implementation of action plans and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills required
- A recognised level 5 management qualification
- Relevant vocational expertise
- Experience working within post 16 education sector
- Experience of facilitating and managing learning
- Ability to collate, analyse and present data
- Experience of Ofsted regulations and inspections
SALARY PACKAGE:
- £30,000-£40,000
- In-line with Company policy, payment is made for business fuel consumption only, at the current rate of 35 pence per mile.
- Hotel and travel expenses are covered for any overnight stays required as part of business activities (on prior approval by your manager), with a evening food allowance of £25
- Death in Service 4x salary

ANNUAL LEAVE
Your annual leave entitlement is 31 days per annum. This consists of 23 days holiday per annum plus the eight Bank and Public holidays
- You will receive an additional 3 days discretionary holiday after 2 years’ service to cover the company closure between Christmas and the New Year.
- Should you reach 5 years’ service, you will be allocated one additional holiday per year, up to a maximum of 28 days (plus bank/public holidays).
- If your birthday falls on a week day and you are normally at work that day, you are not required to work that day and will still be paid
PENSION
The Company has in place a Government workplace pension scheme which is operated by ‘The People’s Pension’. Those employees eligible to join the scheme with be automatically enrolled after 3 months service.
You will pay in 5% of your earnings each pay period. This will be taken directly from your pay and may include tax relief from the government. We will also pay in 3% of your earnings each pay period. Therefore, the total amount put into your pension pot will be 8% of your earnings.
