Title: Project Manager

Reports to: Contracts Director

Location: Newport, Wales

Job Purpose:

To manage the design and procurement of M&E projects by working with the client, suppliers and project delivery team to ensure projects are set up and delivered efficiently and within budget.

Develop good working relationships with the client to facilitate a partnering ethos at all stages of the project lifecycle, enabling client requirements to be fully understood and projects to be designed to meet their specification in an efficient and safe manner. Understand the contractual arrangements of a project and ensure that they are not compromised due to design or procurement issues.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Identify the project deliverables and ensure all involved in design and delivery have a clear understanding of these requirements.

2. Work closely with the project delivery team to establish and expedite project programmes, budgets and resources and support them through the provision of technical assistance and guidance.

3. Manage the change control process to ensure all design changes are communicated to and agreed with the client

4. Manage the supply chain and liaise with the project delivery team in monitoring supplier and subcontractor performance.

5. Monitor and report on procurement costs to ensure they remain within budget.

6. Prepare monthly progress and financial reports as requested

7. Ensure all design and procurement activities are carried out in line with the requirements of the company’s Integrated Management System and its procedures and to identify opportunities for improvements to be made

8. Lead, manage and be accountable for the project delivery team

9. Endeavour to continually improve process and product quality to better meet and set customer and market expectations

To be successful in this role you will need:

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience in managing all aspects of M&E design and build projects
  • Experience of working under NEC contracts
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • CSCS Manager card

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to diagnose problems, identify and recommend solutions
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to influence others
  • A proactive, practical and positive approach to work
  • Ability to travel, plan and manage own workload and that of others

  • Previous experience working in the water industry
