Overall Purpose of Job:

Responsible for the Quality Control team who conduct functional product testing, component calibration and inspection of electromechanical products or subassemblies to internal and external stakeholder requirements. Delegated responsible person for the standard of Quality manufactured. Manage and progress continual improvement projects and initiatives to improve the Quality Culture of Armfield to achieve our RFT (Right First Time) to customer target and overall Quality outputs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise functional product testing and oversee the approval for release of products
  • Lead a team of Test Engineers to meet Quality and Delivery targets
  • Guide and assist with electrical testing and fault diagnosis
  • Support with product set-up and calibration in accordance with Standard Work Documents
  • Lead the review and assessment for suitability of Test Procedures
  • Nonconformance and Root Cause and Corrective Action management
  • Working with production and engineering to feedback details of defects or design challenges
  • Effective decision making on quality control matters, e.g. defect approval/rejection, concession raising and approval
  • Support the operations and engineering team with product issues and opportunities
  • Reporting potential engineering changes to drawings and schematics
  • Control and management of Test equipment and consumables, including gauge calibration and maintaining appropriate levels of consumable items e.g. chemicals and gases
  • Provide additional support and assistance with Warranty claims and support tickets
  • Engaging and leading improvement activities based upon quality shortfall trends
  • Communicating errors and issues to production staff members clearly and professionally
  • Focus on keeping quality improvement a priority; from design through to manufacture based upon feedback and input from production to engineering
  • Streamline Product Test processes to single platform for Procedure, Data and Image capture
  • Produce defined KPIs to enable effective analysis of data to facilitate reporting and definition of tasks/projects to improve or resolve developing trends
  • Some hands-on functional testing and inspection will be expected to gain product experience

Requirements

  • Experience in a similar role in an electromechanical production environment
  • Experience in leading a team within a production environment
  • Production working environment experience (5 years minimum)
  • Working knowledge of Quality good practice methodologies e.g. 5 Whys, Rapid Problem Solving
  • Proficient at reading schematics/mechanical assembly and piece part drawings
  • Use of electrical test equipment (DMM/Multimeter)
  • Use of handheld metrology equipment (Digital Calliper, Micrometer)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and intermediate to high computer literacy
  • High level of accuracy in work standards with a high-quality driven work attitude and ethic
