Role Overview
We’re looking for a Server & Network Device Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for clearing configuration settings from network devices, such as switches and servers, and logging detailed information about each asset into our bespoke tracking software. You’ll play an essential role in ensuring that technology is processed securely and efficiently, contributing to our mission of protecting data and minimizing environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Configuration Clearance

Clear configuration settings from network devices (servers, switches, routers, etc.) to ensure that all data and device settings are fully reset before disposal or refurbishment.

Ensure that all clearing activities comply with industry standards and security protocols, keeping sensitive information protected.

  1. Asset Logging & Tracking

Accurately log device details into our bespoke software, including serial numbers, specifications, ownership information, and device condition.

Ensure that all assets are tracked effectively for audit purposes and for client reporting, maintaining thorough records of each asset’s lifecycle.

  1. Device Inspection & Assessment

Assess the physical condition of devices to determine functionality and potential for refurbishment or resale.

Perform basic checks on equipment to ensure that it meets quality standards before being processed further.

  1. Data Security Compliance

Adhere to strict data sanitization and security practices, ensuring full compliance with industry regulations, including GDPR.

Document the results of data clearance and asset assessments, ensuring accuracy and completeness for audit purposes.

  1. Team Collaboration

Work closely with other technicians, warehouse staff, and logistics coordinators to ensure smooth processing of assets and timely execution of tasks.

Communicate with management regarding workflow, stock levels, and any issues that may arise during the asset handling process.

What We’re Looking For
Experience & Skills

Proven experience working with IT hardware, including servers and network devices.

Hands-on experience with clearing configuration settings on switches and servers.

Familiarity with asset management systems or the ability to learn to log items accurately into bespoke software.

Attention to Detail

Strong focus on accuracy when logging data and clearing device configurations.

Ability to troubleshoot and reset device settings efficiently.

Compliance Knowledge

Basic knowledge of data security practices and compliance standards such as GDPR is preferred. Training can be provided if needed.

Strong communication skills to accurately report device conditions and updates to the team and management.
