Project Engineer

Main purpose and Scope

The Project Engineer is responsible for the diligent design of products, developed within the technical department. This can include concepts and schemes, detail design, and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design to best practices using CAD.
• Design in line with customer, legal and safety requirements.
• Identify engineering problems and either implement a solution, or escalate as necessary
• Prioritise workload and communicate effectively to manage expectations of project stakeholders.
• Complete basic engineering calculations to verify geometric dimensions and tolerances.
• Collaborate with production (internal or external) and suppliers to keep designs within manufacturing capabilities, and to reduce manufacturing costs.
• Assist the production teams (internal or external) and suppliers during manufacture to ensure the specification is understood and providing physical assistance when required.

Additional responsibilities may include project documentation, more detailed calculations or analysis, involvement in proposals, or taking responsibility for contract engineers.

Other responsibilities may overlap with the Programme Manager and Analysis Engineer job descriptions.

Skills and Requirements

• Suitable qualifications and design experience.
• An ability to apply knowledge to designs, such as mechanical principles and modes of failure.
• Good communication skills and a team player.
• Task orientated and be able to prioritise own workload.
• Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks) and a working knowledge of MS Office.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
