Job summary
At Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) we are an inclusive, dedicated organisation working to provide outstanding care to our entitled personnel.
Do you have excellent communication and organisational skills? Are you a team worker with the ability to use your own initiative? If the answer is yes, then we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated AO Administrative Officer to join our encouraging and welcoming team of dedicated military and civilian healthcare professionals and administrative staff working at Worthy Down.
The vacant post is a full-time position working 37 hours per week. Part-time candidates will be considered but due to service delivery requirements it must be on a job share basis as full-time hours need to be covered.
Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Throughout, the Commands transformation programme is committed to following the MODs framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Commands personnel and Trade Unions.
The Administration Officer will work with the business manager and practice manager.
Support Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) in delivery of a safe and effective primary healthcare service within the firm base at the regional level to enhance and sustain the operational effectiveness.
The duties will include the running of the reception, including answering email/telephones, booking appointments, arriving patients, responding to queries, and directing patients.
Person specification
The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Work as part of the Administration Team at the medical centre and physio dept, to be responsible for all administrative procedures, providing a welcoming and efficient front of house service to all Population at Risk (PAR).
- Run reception, including answering email/telephones, booking appointments, arriving patients, responding to queries, and directing patients.
- Register new patients including the creation of new records for new entry, annotating medicals onto Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DMICP), historical vaccinations and blood groups when provided.
- Assist Medical Centre business manager alongside practice manager in the creation and completion of returns as required, including patient satisfaction surveys to meet the healthcare governance requirement and to facilitate whole departmental Practice Development.
- To undertake any additional essential medical administration support activity to maintain an effective patient service to both patients and clinical staff.
