Project Manager
Who are Safelab Systems Ltd?
With 40 years of history, Safelab is recognised as a leading UK designer and manufacturer of high-quality fume cupboards and safety cabinets.
We install our products for a wide range of clients, from schools and small laboratories to entire university departments and industrial R&D facilities of Blue Chip companies. We also test and maintain any fume cupboard, whether Safelab or another manufacturers’, to support our customers ongoing legal compliance requirements.
Whilst most of our customers are UK-based, we are growing our export business across the educational, scientific and industrial sectors.
Safelab are part of the SDi Group who employ over 400 people nationwide.
SDi Group companies design and manufacture scientific products for use in applications including life sciences, healthcare, astronomy, consumer manufacturing and art conservation markets.
Essential Duties and Functions
Managing projects from initial order to completed works, and any associated admin.
This includes:

Ability to obtain SC clearance

Ability to carry out site visits / surveys when required.

Arranging of deliveries of materials and allocation of labour for projects.

Ability to create site and work specific RAMs
-
Liaising directly with clients
-
Clear communication with stakeholders, sub contractors, and internal teams.

Communication with, and monitoring of, the Safelab field-based engineer team

Liaising with all parties on scope and programme of works

Monitoring of all aspects of the project, ensuring they are executed with precision and care, on time and within budget.

Providing relevant and up to date information such as order acknowledgments, skills matrix & insurance details

Providing an initial contact point for customer queries, complaints & technical submissions, either providing a solution or escalating where appropriate

Organising and monitoring of specialist sub-contract work

Preparation for invoicing

Ability to manage multiple contracts and prioritise work load

Administrative tasks:

Maintaining relevant records such as ACT database, diary & relevant spreadsheets

Preparing completed works for invoicing
-
Submission and distribution of engineer paperwork weekly
Supervisory Responsibilities
- On-site Sub-contractors
Experience
Proven experience in leading and managing projects, with a good understanding of project lifecycles, from initiation to completion. Ability to deliver projects on time, within scope, and on budget, while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety and experience in working in ISO9001:2000 environment
- Experience of site visits / surveys.
- CSCS card desirable.
Qualifications
- GCSE in Maths, English & Science or equivalent
IT Skills
- Microsoft Products: Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Any experience of the ACT database or SAGE software would be advantageous
Prime Measures of Performance
- Ensuring that Safelab has class-leading contract management with satisfied customers
- Achieving estimated margins on all orders ensuring productivity & efficiency
- Customer satisfaction targets met with zero warranties
- Completion of orders on programme
- Zero accidents as a result of activities
- Final account agreed within one month of completion
REPORTS TO - Operations Manager
Job Type:
Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £38,000-£42,000 per year (dependant on experience)
Additional pay:
- Performance bonus

- Weston-super-Mare.
- In person, officed based within 1 hour commute, no hybrid working.
