A key role as Head of Finance & HR in a long-established and successful architecture practice of around 100 people, the expectation is that the successful applicant will take over from our longstanding FD, who is retiring this summer, and in due course can expect to be invited to become a full member of the Board.

jmarchitects is an award-winning architectural practice, founded in 1962 with four UK offices, which have together evolved into one of the UK’s leading design and delivery practices. We have long prided ourselves on our in-house finance function which provides timely monthly management information to full UK GAAP standards and, more importantly, a respected voice in the management of the practice (which has reported a profit for the last 16 consecutive years and consistently maintains a healthy balance sheet).

What we 're looking for:

You will have experience in a role as Head of Finance, Financial Controller or similar and be confident taking full responsibility for monthly management accounts reporting, cash flow management & forecasting, budgeting, payroll, VAT reporting and HR functions (with access to retained professional HR advice) . You will play an important advisory role both in regular management decision making, and in occasional ad hoc issues with financial implications such as changes to corporate structure or consideration of potential acquisitions. The finance team of two, being yourself and the Assistant Accountant, is also responsible for day-to-day credit control, billings, credit collections, purchase ledger and project costing information.
