PLC / Automation Engineer

Our client, a leading Electrical Engineer company based in Armagh is in search of a PLC / Automation Engineer to join their growing team with the job purpose of programming automation and control systems which involve programmable logic controllers.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate. We are open to candidates from graduate to experienced level for this role

The job role:

  • Development of PLC, HMI and SCADA software for various new and existing projects including liaising with clients to produce a functional design specification (FDS)
  • Specify PLC, HMI and Scada Hardware for certain projects
  • Production of PLC I/O documents
  • Testing of control systems at our workshop prior to dispatch
  • On site commissioning and operator training of control systems.
  • Site visits to existing control systems for diagnostics/modifications
  • Remote access to existing control systems for diagnostics / modifications
  • Interpret and understand the requirements of the specification and produce accurate and detailed electrical as required. This includes developing and maintaining excellent customer relationships as well as dealing with drawings to allow the workshop team to manufacture and test control panels.

The successful candidate must have:

  • A relevant degree or technical apprenticeship that provides a solid foundation in the principals of Electrical Engineering OR equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and ability to program PLC’s
  • Experience of Siemens, SCADA, HMI, and PLC’s highly desirable
  • Driving licence is essential
