Support Worker
Transforming the lives of young people with The Lily Housing Project: Join Us as a Support Worker
Job Type: Full-time 33hrs, Permanent, Sleep ins
Salary:
- 33-hour contract: £ 26,998.40 (including sleep-in rate)
- Sleep-in rate: £ 55.00 (Average of 2 sleep-ins per week)
(Salary scales are dependent on qualifications and previous experience).
The Role: Support Worker
In this role you will form part of the team working in our projects across Weymouth, Dorchester & Ferndown. You will be required to do an average of 2 sleep ins shifts per week. We provide our young residents with a space to grown with confidence, enhance their self-esteem and develop the life skills require to live independently.

As a Support Worker, you will:
- In full consultation with the residents, ensure all needs and goals are identified and addressed in a support plan.
- Promote person centred planning and involvement.
- Support plans are regularly reviewed and evaluated.
- Maintain accurate records daily, to a high standard.
- Involve residents in any decision about their support and future plans in order to maximise service user choice.
- Liaise with other appropriate services, acting as advocate and support for individuals to ensure they receive appropriate support services.
- To take residents shopping, to appointments i.e. doctors, care reviews, job centre appointments, etc.
- Help and support residents to prepare meals and snacks.
- Support residents keep their home clean and tidy.
- Undertake regular property inspection and room checks liaising with environmental officer.
- To provide verbal feedback and written records to The Lily Housing Project Management as required in respect of resident situations.
- Promote residents to identify training needs, education and / or work experience and assist in finding suitable courses and/ or work experience.
- Assist residents, in partnership with other agencies, to obtain where appropriate suitable employment, attend educational activities and courses and vocational work.
- Support residents in obtaining IDs, opening bank accounts, claiming relevant benefits, and attending appointments.
- Assist residents with applying for local authority home choice, looking for properties in the private sector and provide guidance and support with move-on - liaise with projects move on advisor.
- You will be required to have your own transport and ensure it is insured appropriately for the nature of your work.
About You:
- You are passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives.
- Ideally you will have experience in a support worker setting and hold, or are working towards, a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- However, we welcome those new to the field who can demonstrate a strong passion towards improving young people’s lives and a desire to develop a vocation in support work (Full training will be provided).
- You are reliable, compassionate, and have excellent communication skills.
- A driving license is required.
