The Solutions Architect will report directly into the CIO and will lead the design of complex IT solutions to meet specific business needs. The Solutions Architect will have end to end responsibility for design and supporting the delivery of applications across the Marlowe Environmental Services (MES) Group. The Solutions Architect will be a strategic thinker who can interpret business needs into technical solutions by collaborating with stakeholders across various business and technical domains. The Solutions Architect will ensure that the architecture aligns with both business goals and technical standards.

Solution Design & Architecture

• Design scalable, resilient, secure, high-performance solutions aligned with business needs.
• Own high-level architecture for applications, platforms, and infrastructure.
• Recommend technologies, frameworks, and tools.
• Ensure architectural integrity and system-wide consistency.
• Maintain technical documentation and roadmaps in line with IT and business strategy.

Technical Leadership

• Provide expert guidance to technical and development teams.
• Evaluate and recommend innovative technologies for business efficiency.
• Ensure solutions align with overall system architecture.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to understand requirements.
• Act as a technical liaison between business and IT.
• Communicate solution designs to technical and non-technical audiences.

System Implementation

• Oversee solution implementation and integration with existing systems.
• Design and manage system integrations, APIs, and microservices.
• Support deployment and troubleshoot technical issues post-implementation.

Risk Management & Security

• Ensure solutions are secure by design and compliant with standards.
• Identify and mitigate risks during architectural design.
• Embed data privacy and security best practices in all designs.

Person Specification

Experience

• 5+ years as a Solutions Architect in software and solution design.
• Strong development background.
• Familiarity with enterprise frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, TIME).
• Experience designing scalable, secure on-premise enterprise solutions.
• Proficient with Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Proven delivery of end-to-end enterprise solutions in SMEs.
• Knowledge of networking, databases, and infrastructure.

Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in Cloud platforms, tools, and services.
• Exposure to SaaS solutions.
• Proficient in integration technologies (APIs, REST, message queues).
• Knowledge of security principles and best practices.
• Exposure to automation, AI, and innovation.
• Clear, concise communication of technical concepts at all levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
• Certified Solutions Architect.
