We are delighted to be offering an exciting opportunity for a Forestry Consultant to join the consultancy team at Maydencroft Limited.
We are a close-knit group of Forestry, Ecological, Arboricultural, and Nature Recovery consultants working as an integral part of a larger organisation which includes arborists, foresters, estate managers, landscape operatives and farmers.
Location:
We are looking for a consultant based in (or able to relocate to) Surrey or Sussex.
The workplace:
The role will be largely remote with occasional working from our Dorney office (nr Windsor) and Hertford offices.
Role responsibilities:
- Management of our clients woodland
- Woodland consultancy to our public, charitable and commercial clients
- Woodland surveys and condition reports
- Project development and managing woodland interventions
- Responding to client enquiries and undertaking initial site and remote client meetings in order to fully understand their brief and budgets
- Supporting the work of our consultancy division to advise clients on appropriate new or replacement tree planting schemes and the creation of new woodlands.
- To support our consultancy division to complete any other relevant documentation as required.
- To support, and lead where necessary, the delivery of other land management projects.
- Potential managerial responsibilities of your team
- Overseeing the production of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), review the risk register and check risk controls
- Present tenders and PQQs alongside the bid writing team to the Senior Management Team for verification prior to submission
- Advising clients for their budget allocations
- Assist with new areas of business such as new services or geographic location
Core skills and requirements:
- A forestry degree or equivalent with a sound knowledge of lowland forestry.
- Experience in working with mostly ancient, broadleaf woodlands
- Excellent communication skills and report writing
- An understanding of state funded woodland grant schemes and an awareness of blended finance opportunities
- An awareness of mixed landscape grant schemes.
- A thorough understanding of UKFS, forestry H & S requirements and legal requirements
- Willingness to work towards the LANTRA professional tree inspection qualification
- An understanding of carbon capture, natural capital, woodland resilience and ongoing tree health issues would be useful.

Pay: £30,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
