The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position will be based on site near Chippenham or Reading 5 days a week.

Your future duties and responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Architect to join our team. In this strategic role, you will design, implement, and optimise complex IT infrastructures and security solutions to meet dynamic business objectives. The ideal candidate brings a broad understanding of modern IT infrastructure, with expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX, networking, SSO, PAM, cross-domain solutions, Tanzu, and VxRail.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Solution Architecture and Design

• Develop and implement scalable, secure architectures leveraging VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX, and VxRail.
• Design and integrate cross-domain solutions to enable secure data exchange across environments.
• Ensure that all solutions align with business and security requirements, adhering to best practices and compliance standards.

Network and Security Architecture

• Architect and optimise network solutions, including NSX, to enhance both performance and security.
• Implement and manage Single Sign-On (SSO) and Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions to strengthen authentication and security.
• Embed end-to-end security considerations into all technical designs and implementations.

Cloud and Virtualisation Solutions

• Design and manage cloud and virtualisation environments using VMware Tanzu for containerised applications.
• Support hybrid cloud strategies by integrating on-premises systems with cloud infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership in the deployment and optimisation of VMware VxRail solutions.

Cross-Domain Integration

• Architect and support secure cross-domain solutions that facilitate controlled access between isolated networks.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards while enabling seamless interoperability.

Technical Leadership and Collaboration

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical roadmaps and drive innovation.
• Provide expert guidance to engineering teams on best practices for system design and implementation.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve solutions.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

• Defence Experience: Proven experience working within Defence environments.
• Technical Expertise: Extensive background as a Solution Architect or in a similar IT infrastructure role.
• VMware Mastery: Strong expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX, and VxRail.
• Networking & Security: Deep understanding of networking principles and security best practices.
• Leadership & Communication: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Desired Competencies

• Familiarity with cross-domain technologies such as Tiger Traps, Garrison, OpsWat, and NiFi.
• Basic knowledge of VMware infrastructure technologies.
• Experience with F5 and InfoBlox is a plus.
• Proven experience in Network Solution Architecture.
