Job description

Syos is a pioneering aerospace and technology company at the forefront of utilitarian autonomous vehicles. Syos specialises in development of cutting-edge unmanned vehicles, vessels, and aircraft and are expanding production capability across a range of sectors in the UK.

This role requires a capable Marine Commissioning Engineer comfortable working in a busy and fast paced start up environment. This role will be pivotal in ensuring total functionality and completion of our small marine craft platforms

We are seeking a detailed orientated commissioning engineer to manage and execute the commissioning process of small uncrewed vessels.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in robotics, electrical engineering or related fields, with experience in commissioning autonomous systems. The role will involve working closely with the engineering, production and operations teams to ensure our USVs are correctly assembled, calibrated and tested before deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and install onboard equipment, sensors and communication equipment
  • Conduct system tests including power up tests, sensor calibration and communication set up
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans to ensure the vessel meets performance and functional requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the commissioning process
  • Collaborate with design and development teams to provide feedback on system performance and reliability
  • Document the commissioning process, including test results, procedures and any modifications or dispensations to the systems

Key Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in robotics, electrical engineering or related field
  • At least 3 years proven experience in autonomous systems or robotics projects
  • Strong troubleshooting experience and problem solving skills
  • Experience with DC motor controllers, RF equipment, PLCs and LAN integration and networking.
  • Understanding of data comms such as analogue/digital I/O signals as well as RS232/422/485 CANbus
  • Experience with Linux and configuring drone parameters with available drone software is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with other engineering disciplines

Because of the nature of the work, applicants will need to have a British Passport.

Pay: £37,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
