Job description
Technical Documentation Author
Salary: Up to 50,000 per annum
Hours: 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm
Additional Benefits: 25 days holiday, pension scheme, private healthcare
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement technical documentation solutions tailored to customer requirements.
- Support managers with technical reviews and compliance tasks.
- Work collaboratively with project managers and engineers to provide customers with a coherent documentation package throughout the project lifecycle.
- Create documents or populate customer templates to meet project milestones and align with customer DIDS (Data Interface Documents) or CDRLs (Customer Data Requirements Lists).
- Review customer quotation proposals for compliance or deviation, mark up documents, and create briefing packs for design and engineering teams.
- Produce ILS (Integrated Logistics Support) documentation and understand BOM (Build of Materials) structures, parts breakdowns, and spare parts recommendations.
- Monitor and track customer document submittals, including submission dates and revision history, ensuring export control compliance.
- Liaise with customers’ engineering and document teams.
- Create and maintain technical and project documents.
- Manage document submission via customer or internal portals.
- Maintain project trackers and timelines to meet project deadlines.
- Ensure adherence to customer quality criteria and milestone requirements.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and delivering technical publications.
- Proven ability to manage projects and workload independently.
- Experience in working with engineering data, such as drawings and design reports.
- Familiarity with FMEA and FMECA (useful but not mandatory).
- Marine industry experience (beneficial but not essential).
A requirement for this role is our client requires to carry out a security clearance check due to the nature of contracts held.
Skills Required:
- Strong technical problem-solving abilities.
- High standard of written English and excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and AutoCAD.
- Competence with project tracking and documentation management tools.
- Time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Understanding of BOM structures and Integrated Logistic Support.
