  • Contribute to early-stage planning, feasibility assessments, and requirements generation for pre-contract and concept development phases.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering growth and expertise.
  • Perform mechanical calculations for fixings, inserts, and bonded joints.
  • Act as a technical liaison with customers, suppliers, manufacturing teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts, including the preparation of customer proposals.
  • Assist with project management tasks, monitoring plans, progress, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, clearly communicating progress, priorities, and challenges.

  • Oversee external resources in collaboration with the line manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Marine, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Proficiency in using major CAD systems (preferably NX or CATIA) to create high-quality, detailed drawings with appropriate application of GD&T and DFM principles.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, supported by the ability to perform design calculations.
  • Experience designing both metallic and composite components is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of materials, welding, bonding, and fastening techniques.
  • Hands-on familiarity with workshop activities such as fabrication and CNC machining is a plus.
  • Significant experience in conducting classical hand calculations and creating custom calculation sheets.
  • Competence with FEA tools to support design validation and accelerate development is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with TeamCentre and Siemens SimCentre is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of production manufacturing techniques is preferred.
  • Ability to mentor and supervise junior engineers, with a willingness to delegate tasks effectively.
