Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor in Mechanical Pipework to join our small & friendly team. Specialising in mechanical, heating, cooling, plumbing, and pharmaceutical pipework, you will be responsible for supporting the commercial team in managing project costs, valuations & financial reporting. Working under JCT & NEC contracts you will assist in ensuring projects remain within budget while maintaining quality & compliance.

This role requires strong commercial acumen, contract knowledge, and a good understanding of the pipework sector within UK construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Control & Variations: Prepare & submit monthly applications for payment within contractual deadlines. Assist in identifying & manage build variations. Negotiation of price variations with clients. Maintain records of project changes & update cost reports.
  • Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractor applications for payment & ensure associated costs are aligned with project budgets. Ensure subcontract payments & notice periods are adhered to.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Prepare cost forecasts & budgets, ensuring compliance with contract requirements. Provide regular financial reports to directors. Assist project managers with budget & forecasting.
  • Client & Site Engagement: Conduct site visits to gather cost related data. Provide support in procurement & tendering process. Work closely with project managers, site teams & clients to aid a smooth project completion.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in Quantity Surveying in the mechanical, plumbing & pipework sector.
  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, construction management
  • Understanding of JCT & NEC contracts.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure & meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Able to work independently while effectively collaborating with project teams and senior management.
