Johnsons Leisure are an innovative but well-established company offering premium outdoor leisure goods to the consumer.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Assistant Finance Manager to support the Finance Manager in overseeing all financial aspects of the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, as well as hands-on experience in managing imports/exports, stock control, and financial processes. You will be responsible for a variety of financial tasks, including ensuring proper accounting procedures, managing cash flow, monitoring stock levels, and assisting with import/export transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting and Financial Management:
- Support the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Analyse and prepare variance reports, identifying key trends and areas for cost savings or improvement.
Imports/Exports and Customs Compliance:
- Manage compliance with international trade regulations, including customs duties, taxes, and import/export tariffs.
- Maintain and update accurate records of all import/export transactions.
Stock Control and Inventory Management:
- Collaborate with the operations and inventory teams to monitor stock levels and ensure accurate financial reporting of inventory.
- Implement and track stock control measures to minimize discrepancies between physical and financial stock data.
Financial Processes and Control:
- Assist in improving and implementing financial control procedures and processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices in financial management.
General Support:
- Provide financial analysis and reports to senior management to aid in decision-making.
- Deputising for the Finance Manager
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in finance and accounting, ideally with exposure to imports/exports and stock control.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Zoho or similar), and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in international trade regulations, customs procedures, and import/export documentation.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and stock control systems.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AAT qualified. Or qualified by experience.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or retail environment.
- Knowledge of ERP & CRM systems and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.).
