Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring that high standards of food quality and presentation are maintained. This position requires a strong understanding of food safety practices, exceptional culinary skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and development, ensuring creativity and seasonal relevance.
  • Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow and teamwork.
  • Train new kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, food safety protocols, and kitchen procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation.
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared according to recipes and presentation standards before serving.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to health regulations.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary role within a hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  • Proficient in food preparation techniques and culinary arts.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen staff and management.
  • A passion for cooking, creativity in menu development, and a commitment to quality.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the business needs.

Fish butchery skills are desirable but not essential and can be trained on the job .

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £14.00-£17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 55 per week
