Salary: £30,000 - £40,000
Job Purpose
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Desk-Based Network Architect to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their career with a passion for networking and technology. While technical skills are beneficial, we are primarily seeking someone with a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and problem-solving mindset. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience with Unified Communications (UC) , Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Wi-Fi , and Network Security , supporting the design of network solutions for both public and private sector clients. You will work alongside senior architects, gradually building your technical expertise while contributing to real-world projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design Support:
- Assist in creating and documenting network architecture designs under the guidance of senior architects.
- Learn to interpret client requirements and translate them into basic network solutions.
- Contribute to design documentation , diagrams, and technical specifications.
Technology Exposure & Learning:
- Gain knowledge and hands-on experience with UC platforms, including Mitel, 8x8 and Microsoft Teams, Operator Connect & Direct Routing.
- Develop a foundational understanding of LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi , and Network Security technologies.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with senior architects and project teams to understand and contribute to solution designs.
- Participate in technical workshops and team discussions.
- Support the preparation of client-facing documentation and presentations.
Public & Private Sector Exposure:
- Learn about the unique requirements of public and private sector clients.
- Support solution designs that meet security and compliance standards.
Skills & Experience (What We’re Looking For):
Technical Aptitude:
- A base-level knowledge of network fundamentals , including UC, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and Firewalls.
- Familiarity with network concepts such as IP addressing, routing, VLANs, and security protocols is a plus.
- Basic understanding of cloud-based telephony and collaboration tools is advantageous.

- Eagerness to learn and develop new technical skills.
- A proactive, can-do attitude with a willingness to take on challenges.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a keen interest in technology.
- Ability to follow instructions and ask thoughtful questions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Networking, IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Certifications (e.g., CCNA, Network+, or similar ) are a bonus but not required.
- Exposure to Mitel, 8x8, or other UC platforms is a plus but not essential.
